Title: Class A Truck Driver

Job Purpose:
The truck driver position is to operate company vehicles and provide courteous and efficient delivery and pick-up of automotive products to customers, vendors, and other company facilities.

Job Duties:
  • Loading and unloading the delivery truck.
  • Driving the delivery truck to customers to make deliveries.
  • Demonstrating excellent customer service.
  • Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
  • Maintain all required certificates required by DOT and OSHA.
  • Maintain logs of working hours and of vehicle service and repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered products and collect payment services when required.
  • Check all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate.
  • Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading position, and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned.
  • Secure cargo for transportation, using chains, binders, tarps, ratchets.
  • Make sure that the tail gate is properly closed and tighten at all time.
  • Read bill of lading to determine assignment details.
  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damages to the vehicles.
  • Report damages to products to supervisor in charge.
  • Turn in proper documentation to its designated office daily.
  • Maintain a clean environment in the inside and outside of the truck.
  • Wear company issued uniform shirt.
Knowledge Required For This Job:
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for moving freight and materials.
  • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state and national laws.
  • Knowledge of laws, EPA regulations, DOT regulations, and OSHA regulations.
  • Knowledge of identifying potential safety risks ahead of time.
Skills required for this Job:
  • Controlling operations of equipment or systems.
  • Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure that the truck is working properly.
  • Monitoring/Assessing performance of you, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.
  • Active listening by paying full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Conducting tests and inspection of equipment and processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
  • Have customer friendly skills.
Requirements:
  • Able to work weekends.
  • Minimum of 1 year’s verifiable Class A truck driving experience.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age to apply.
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • CDL Class A
  • Current DOT medical certification
  • Read, write, and understand the English language
  • Able to maneuver a large truck
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and operate various materials handling equipment including fork trucks and pallet jacks.
